Heather M. Crist, LMSW

I am a licensed master social worker and graduate of Northwest Nazarene University, with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and minor in family studies from Boise State University. My experience enables me to offer effective outpatient, individualized, psychological care. I treat a number of mental health disorders, and provide a neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples.

Treatment Focus

My focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. This is achieved by providing a warm space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan. In our healing journey we often meet others that encourage us along the way, making the path and process that much sweeter.

Trainings

I am trained in EMDR, this stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprosesing, a  psychotherapy technique used  to treat anxiety , and PTSD.

Additionally I hold a level 1 certification through the Gottman Institution. Gottman - trained therapists aim to help couples build stronger relationships overall as well as introduce healthier ways to cope  with issues as they arise in the future.  I specialize not only in interpersonal relationships but the impact of trauma in our day to day lives with continues education in advanced trauma courses and  emphasis in Somatic work.

Somatic work is body centered approach to treating PTSD  that, rather than focusing only in thoughts or emotions associated with a traumatic event ,expands to include the natural bodily (somatic) responses.
